The Iconic Puzzle Game Didn't Succeed at This Gaming Ceremony — An Additional Classification Could Fix That

Each time a significant prize-giving event nears, one notices a clamor for introducing additional classifications to acknowledge underappreciated efforts and delight the passions of fans who have specialized interests.

Another commentator made the case supporting a scary games classification. That would rule. The same goes for board games, which is a dedicated supporter's campaign. However, I must insist if I try to elbow in front since similar to blinkered fanatics, I have a cast-iron argument supporting my request is the most urgent and important of all. The demand is this: We need a category for puzzle games.

Organizing Gaming Categories

Categorizing art by genre isn't exact; opinions vary greatly, and inevitably start arguments concluding with vague boundaries. It's understandable that cinema institutions steer clear of genre categories. But it is an unavoidable compromise in the world of gaming, which are so diverse they barely qualify a single creative category.

For comprehensive acknowledgment of gaming accomplishments to receive acknowledgment, and to ensure all game types to compete fairly, genre categories are essential.

Existing Game Classification System

Prominent interactive entertainment events currently feature classifications covering Action, Adventure-action titles, RPG experiences, Fighting, Simulation and strategy titles, plus athletic and racing experiences. Between them, these award types successfully include a lot of ground, making space possible accommodating various experiences.

Different situation exists for brain-teasing titles. There’s simply nowhere for their placement. Think about these outstanding current releases, all very different: structural challenges from a specific release, the pulse-pounding block-matching from another release, engaging interpersonal challenges in another game. What category would fit them among existing types? Nowhere, that’s where.

Acknowledgment Issues

There are dozens of brilliant puzzle games launched regularly lacking appropriate categories in entertainment awards, if they accidentally match classification types such as Handheld titles, Virtual reality experiences, or the intensely contested small studio competitions.

  • One classic puzzle game received no recognition in any category during that awards season
  • Another creative title missed out that year
  • Well-received sorting experience received no acknowledgment recently
  • Only a few puzzle games scraped into small studio or handheld classifications

Significance of Puzzle Games

These are often small games, however the design in brain-teasers carries substantial weight. Well-known matching games count as the most-played games worldwide maintaining this status for over a decade.

The legendary block-stacking game challenges popular creative games claiming status as best-selling game of all time; it also contends as greatest title ever. Puzzle games are foundational to the art of video games, and they are in conversation with diverse game types.

Proposal and Rationale

Logic titles wouldn't face such difficulty. It would be easy to populate five nominees engaging, different, qualified experiences each ceremony simply — actually, with challenge, since numerous excellent numerous deserving experiences.

And to reiterate, these are games without proper classification at major gaming awards. Puzzle game makers are working at the hard edge game development, producing among essential manifestations of gaming itself. Just like movie stunt professionals, they deserve recognition. Let’s not keep them waiting 35 years.
